Couple steals puppy from adoption event at Pet Supplies Plus
Identified as a Hispanic female and a tall, red-headed Caucasian male.
DALLAS At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a nine-month-old, mostly grey, neutered male Yorkshire Terrier mix (pictured here) was stolen from an adoption event at Pet Supplies Plus on Mockingbird at Skillman.
Information provided by the rescue group identifies the suspect as a young Hispanic female with long, straight black hair wearing blue jeans and a light colored top. She was accompanied by an approximately 6-foot-tall young Caucasian male with bright red hair and freckles, also wearing blue jeans. Both appeared to be in their early 20s.
If you see this dog being walked, or if you know someone who perhaps wasn't able to afford a dog and suddenly has one, contact Metroplex Mutts at info@metroplexmutts.com and immediately dial 911.
Metroplex Mutts is an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to lowering the number of North Texas animals euthanized in shelters each year.

Disgusting. People can be so lazy and selfish. I'm on my 3rd puppy that has been dumped by my home. Geezo people, drive another 10 minutes to a shelter to make sure the animal is cared for.

That's the lowest of the low—like stealing from a church. Animal adoption volunteers are caring for these animals out of the kindness of the hearts, and mostly at their own expense. And the adoption fees are little to nothing.

Stories like this make me think vigilantism has it's merits; catch em, cut their thumbs off and let them walk away...I bet they wouldn't be caught stealing again.

For animal lovers like myself, this does set me wrong. If they cant afford the LOW fees to adopt a sweet animal at an event such as this, then they cant afford to care for the puppy the way it needs/should be cared for. poor baby puppy...

Sad, yes, but it's not surprising that's it's Metroplex Mutts. This is not a new problem and those involved with MM have been around long enough to have encountered this before. Not all rescue groups are organized.
