Jack’s Backyard space to be taken over by Bolsa owners

Will open restaurant and bar.

— According to a Twitter tip, Bolsa owners Christopher Jeffers and Chris Zielke have taken over the space vacated by Jack's Backyard where they will open a restaurant and bar.

"BIG Dallas foodie news goin' down at noon today everyone!" said the Tweet to @DSideDish @tgubbins @KimP_FoodWine @jchininis.

The Tweeter in question followed up with an email:

"Yeah, the 'Bolsa Boys' Christopher and Chris are supposed to be announcing their new restaurant concepts at the Bridge-O-Rama meeting happening now. Apparently, they're dropping 2 new places in the old Jack's Backyards space!"

SideDish says the restaurant will be "family-friendly"; another source says they'll be serving fried chicken. @KimP_FoodWine and @jchininis, your move.

Sarah Blaskovich, staff:

I was at the Bridge-o-Rama meeting today (stay tuned; story coming soon) and the two-part restaurant from the owners of Smoke and Bolsa is slated to open March 1, according to sources. One side of the restaurant will be for families, as noted above; it'll be a "contemporary" style restaurant, speaker Randall White called it. I couldn't get anyone to divulge what the second part of the restaurant will be. Yet.

alexander troup, that's some interesting history, thanks.

Andrea from Eater Dallas has input from a super-secret source that's close to the operation; she adds her own chapter to this very important story, including the participation of chef Tim Byres:

Hate it when people use the word "drop" to describe opening a restaurant. Just makes me not want to go there.

Yes, The Showland was torn down in the 60's, while The old Pike as it was called in the 50's held the next traffic going to Arlington and the Air Feild back then, then on to Ft Worth... so you really we have car culture then, how else did the Bonco Bowel come about.....and JACKS had a shot at the 21st Century...
