Boudreaux’s Cajun Kitchen shuts down two Dallas-area locations
Dallas was the first, the only, expansion outside of Houston home turf.
Houston-based Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen shut down its two Dallas-area locations, including a branch in Arlington and another in Richardson.
A spokeswoman at the Houston headquarters confirmed that the two restaurants had closed and said they didn't draw enough business.
"That about sums it up -- it was a financial decision," she said.
Located at the new-ish "Eastside" urban village at Campbell and U.S. 75, the Richardson branch shut down on June 30. The Arlington location, which was at the mega-urban-village Arlington Highlands, just closed on August 31.
Known for Cajun dishes such as seafood jambalaya and crawfish etouffee, Boudreaux's opened its first branch in 1999 in the Galleria area of Houston, followed by four more branches in Houston. It launched its expansion into Dallas in 2008. Some online reviews complained about a lack of spice.
Their departure leaves 53 Cajun/Creole restaurants to choose from in the DFW area, a pool dominated by Pappadeaux, Razzoo's, and Dodie's, though many people swear by The Alligator Cafe down on Live Oak.
