DART riders can receive text messages with bus or train schedules
For now, though, the information won't be sent in real time.
DART announced Thursday that public transportation users can find out when the next bus or train is arriving via text message.
The trick is to know the number of the bus or rail stop. You'll be able to find these by looking online or at the stop itself. More than 12,000 stops don't have signs at the stops yet, according to DART, but they hope to get them posted in the next few months. Also, bus and rail arrival times will not be sent in real time until a few months from now; for now, customers will receive the time the bus is scheduled to arrive.
To use the new system, send a text message that says DART [STOP ID]," for instance, "DART 28076" -- with a space between DART and the number -- to 41411.
Text message rates may apply depending on customers' phone plans.
