Evans Middle School in McKinney was evacuated because of smoke

Students are OK and have since re-entered the school.

— According to McKinney ISD, Evans Middle School was evacuated because of smoke in the orchestra room on Friday. Students have since re-entered the building.

Says a press release:

An AC fan motor in the orchestra room created smoke causing the fire alarm system to trigger. All students and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The fire department has addressed the cause of the smoke and have just given clearance for all staff and students to return to the building. There is no reason for concern, but we wanted to let you know as quickly as possible. Students will resume their regular schedules.
