Khloe & Lamar Season 2 episode 7: Life in Dallas begins
Khloe tries to make the best of it.
DALLAS In real life, Lamar Odom parted ways with the Dallas Mavericks today. But the reality-TV version of his life has him just moving to Dallas. Sunday night's episode of Khloe & Lamar -- filmed last December -- has him making the transfer from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks and life in Dallas.
As the episode begins, Lamar's already in Dallas and Khloe's preparing to join him. The night before she leaves L.A., she gets a visit from her mother Kris and stepfather Bruce Jenner. Jenner gives her a cowboy hat; Kris freaks out. "I can't believe this is happening, it changes everything, it changes the whole dynamic of our family," says Kris, dabbing tears from the corners of her eyes.
Khloe vows to make the best of it. She lands in Dallas and they cut to a shot of the skyline and -- the new bridge! So glad we got that built in time.
"Does it snow in Dallas? There's very high buildings here," Khloe observes. Big Al, co-owner of McKinney Tavern, manages to lure Khloe into visiting (along with her TV crew) by hanging a "Welcome Khloe & Lamar" banner out front. Money well spent.
"It's true what they say about Southern hospitality -- they just want to hug you, and not hug you in a creepy way, they just want to show you love," Khloe says. Eh, I think I'd just call that banner stunt creepy.
She and Lamar are staying at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. They have so many boxes arriving, they need to rent an extra room. Lamar is 6'9" so a mattress is her first order of business. That and apartment-hunting. She loves the W since it's walking distance, has an open design, and has high ceilings. When she tells Lamar about it, he yawns in her face, loud.
"The last thing I want to do right now is go house-hunting," says mopey Lamar, who can't find his groove at team practice.
Porschla Kidd, wife of Lamar teammate Jason Kidd, invites Khloe to Private Social for a girls' dinner. Khloe wears a cute floppy hat -- good disguise. Then it's time for a Mavericks game. Khloe and makeup artist Rob drive in their Range Rover to American Airlines Center; huh, I thought the W was good because it was "walking distance"? Alas, Lamar performs poorly. At the W, Khloe has laid out candles and rose petals to cheer him up but he's hung about doing badly on "national TV." Khloe calls her mother and has a good cry. Lamar takes pity, and they head to their bedroom. For "cuddle time," Khloe says.
