Dallas Mavericks player Jason Kidd was named a divisional winner for the NBA's 2011-2012 Sportsmanship Award. No Mavericks player has won the award before, though former Mavericks coach Avery Johnson won the award in the 1997-1998 season when he played for the San Antonio Spurs.

The other finalists this year are Antawn Jamison (Cleveland Cavaliers), Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers), Shane Battier (Miami Heat), Luke Ridnour (Minnesota Timberwolves), and Jeremy Lin (New York Knicks). The award honors the player who "best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court," according to a press release. A panel of former NBA players picked the finalists; the winner is voted on by NBA players. Each team gets to nominate a player each year.

The winner will be announced after the regular season and will receive the Joe Dumars Trophy, "named after the Hall of Famer and former Detroit Pistons great who played 14 seasons in the NBA and was the recipient of the inaugural NBA Sportsmanship Award in 1996," according to a statement.

This is Jason Kidd hitting Jeremy Lin in the back of the head and then pulling his hair down so his head hits the floor for a hard unnecessary foul. What sportsmanship!

Quit being a troll, if the refs thought it was an attempt to harm Lin they would have called a flagrant foul.

Oh yes I forgot: Refs are always right. You sir, need to learn to think for yourself.
