— Trader Joe's has announced June 15 as the opening date of the store in Fort Worth, the first to open in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

According to a release from the company, a branch in The Woodlands outside Houston will open the same day.

Trader Joe's started out as a wine and cheese store with a line of private-label gourmet foods, nuts, crackers, and frozen foods that have developed a cult following.

The closest Trader Joe's to Fort Worth, according to the FWST, is in Leadwood, Kan., 455 miles away.

The Fort Worth location is at 2701 S. Hulen Street, in the space that was once Dorian's Interior Designs. The store is already accepting applications Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. You get to wear Hawaiian shirts!

Given the fact they have not even pretended to begin construction at the old Arcadia Theater location and they fact that Walmart Neighborhood IS under construction one block away, I am very skeptical that Lower Greenville location of Trader Joe's will actually happen. What does Trader Joe's say? What's the delay?

Teresa Gubbins, staff:

rwt5203, checking with Trader Joe's but they are never very forthcoming - but we'll update as we learn new information, and feel free to check back next week as we have a Trader Joe's-related story comin' up

What do you think?
