Our friends at Rockstar Bakeshop asked themselves the question, “Who wants breakfast?” and decided that it might just be a bunch of folks. The result is the Rockstar Bakeshop Brown Bag Breakfast.

What exactly is included: your choice of any flavor muffin (ginger/pear, blueberry/lemon, strawberry/basil or chocolate/maple/bacon), a cup of fruit, and your choice of orange juice, cranberry juice, drinkable yogurt, or bottled iced coffee. A breakfast that is fresh, nutritious, reasonably healthy and tastes really good for about the price of an Egg McMuffin combo and just as fast. Take that, Mickey D!

For now, breakfast is limited to two days a week: Tuesdays at Lovers & Greenville, 5302 Greenville Avenue in Dallas (in the Blockbusters parking lot); and Thursdays at Preston Commons, 8123 Preston Road in Dallas (in the Centennial Liquor parking lot).

The muffins, although a little smaller than I expected, tasted fabulous. My favorite was the Blueberry/Lemon, but the wife preferred the Ginger/Pear. And how can you go wrong with bacon and chocolate in the same muffin?? Just goes to show that you’ll want to try them all before you decide which one is your favorite. And yes, that is bottled iced coffee from a designer label you’ll recognize. The difference is that at their store, all you get for $6 is coffee!

Hey, it’s almost Tuesday! Make plans now to stop by on the way to work!

Since I’m falling behind (or is it that Rockstar is surging ahead?), I wanted to make sure everyone gets the news. Rockstar Bakeshop has also added hand-crafted, gourmet ice cream to the menu on a trial basis. If the demand at the Cedars Food Park opening is any indication, this is likely to become a regular on the menu. The presentation was not fancy, but the ice cream was great. The small quantities (at least for now) drive up cost, but at $3, it is priced comparable to other dessert items available.

Kristin and Denver are making a name for the Rockstar Bakeshop brand in Dallas, and the recent expansions of products and services are reaching new customers for continued growth. Rock on, guys!
