Food truck review part deux: Cup Cakin
If you are going to operate a food truck that offers only one thing, then you need to make it really good.
If you are like me, no meal is complete without something a little sweet for dessert. Fortunately, you’ll find Cup Cakin hanging out with other food trucks in Dallas just waiting to fill that need. Cup Cakin is a mobile cakery in Dallas that serves the DFW food truck scene from a customized Sprinter Van dubbed the Cup Cakin Machine.
The road that leads to owning and operating a food truck can start almost anywhere. These entrepreneurs come from all facets of life. But they all share one thing in common — a burning passion about food.
The road for Cup Cakin owner Ashley Green brought her from teaching Physics to kids to applying science in the kitchen to create original cupcakes. Ashley is the creative visionary in the business dreaming up new cupcake creations and bringing them to life but she shares the credit with husband, Chris, who holds down a day job in addition to taking care of the business end of things. Always supportive, Chris can often be found manning the Cup Cakin Machine while Ashley is home with their kids and dreaming up new cupcake cuisine.
Cup Cakin offers almost two dozen Cupcake Flavors that are rotated through the menu with between 6 -12 cupcakes on the menu on any given day. You are certain to find something appealing whether your tastes lean toward Classic Chocolate or Vanilla or something trendier like Cotton Candy, S’Mores or Cookies & Cream. And if you don’t see what you want, or if you just feel a little creative, visit the Cup Cakin website and Suggest A Flavor. If Ashley selects your idea and makes it come to life, you get a $10 gift certificate to use at the Cup Cakin Machine.
If you are going to operate a food truck that offers only one thing, then you need to make it really good. Cup Cakin lives up to this challenge and they make it easy for you. They keep the cupcakes standard sized so you don’t overdo. Pricing, at $2.00 – $3.00 may seem a little steep, but the quality keeps it a reasonable value. As an added benefit, purchases are put into individual cups with lids that protect the cupcake in case you actually have the willpower to wait till you get home or, better yet, you buy extras to take home with you.
In addition to being part of the Dallas street food scene, Cup Cakin will create cupcakes customized to your occasion for special events and you can special order cupcakes online and get a sweet delivery. They’ll also come to your office building on Lobby Lunch Tuesdays. Or they’ll gladly create the cake of your dreams for your wedding! And don’t let the name mislead you; Cup Cakin makes some killer pies available anytime through email (sales@cup-cakin.com) or phone orders (214-247-6270).
You can run the risk that Cup Cakin will be hanging out with your favorite food truck but it’s safer to find out where they’ll be by checking their Facebook page or following them on Twitter.
