Standout menus for Restaurant Week 2012 in DFW
No pork-chops-and-a-forgettable-starch here.

You’re going to find a lot of menus during Restaurant Week that serve a cut of steak and a side of fancy potatoes. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you’re in the mood for something more unique, healthy, or even vegetarian, this year’s RW restaurants can fill your needs, with a little searching.
We’ve scoured more than 100 menus to find a few standouts for this year’s Restaurant Week. To see the whole list of Restaurant Week participants with links to menus, click here.
A cheeseburger in paradise: Most of the menus for Restaurant Week will not include a cheeseburger and fries, and with a $35 price tag for dinner, that’s a good thing. But if you can’t handle a meal without a burger, try The Capital Grille in Dallas' cheeseburger with truffle fries. (Lunch only; $25.)
For vegetarians: There are two great options for the meatless. Tei-An gives vegetarians an enjoyable Asian feast with several entrees with soba noodles. Tillman’s Roadhouse (Dallas location only) has Southwestern cuisine, with a sweet jalapeno gnocchi as one of the most delicious-sounding vegetarian entrees.
For the indecisive: Samar by Stephan Pyles is one of the few restaurants that completely changes their menu three times during Restaurant Week. That means you get fewer options on the day you visit, but if you visit more than once, you’ll find new appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
If you want to test out your French – and enjoy some French food while you’re at it: Lavendou is your answer. Bonus points if you can order Cassolette d’ Escargots Chablisienne (Snails with Chablis Wine, Mushroom and Pearl Onions Cream Sauce) without stumbling.
For families taking their kids to dinner: Nicola’s Ristorante Italiano in Plano has plenty of kid-friendly options if you don’t let them read the menu. They may turn their nose up at "Dorata di Vegetali" until you explain it's just fried veggies with dipping sauce.
Inexpensive wine pairings: For $15, The Grape will add wine pairings to the Restaurant Week Menu, which includes goodies like prime dijon pork roast, baked creamy strozapretti lobster mushrooms, diver scallops, and slow-roasted Waygu beef. You can’t go wrong at The Grape.
