Enticed Gourmet Shaved Ice has booze snow cones and sugar-free syrup

The liquor won’t give you a buzz, but it does kinda give you that naughty feeling like you’re doing something you shouldn’t be doing.

Repeat after me: I will never, ever again refer to an Enticed Gourmet Shaved Ice as a snow cone!

I have a confession to make. I’ve never been a fan of fruity, icy stuff in a cup. The thought of a sickly sweet, course iced snow cone just makes me want to gag. Sorry, not a pretty visual but accurate. Nevertheless, I recognized that it was my duty to give them a chance. Besides, the lines are consistently busy and I’ve heard lots of people rave about them. I needed to find out what I was missing.

Where I first tried a blueberry-cherry shaved ice from Enticed is not important. What is important is that (as I’ve since learned), my timing was not good. I happened to get a first day employee who apparently had not mastered the art of properly shaving the ice. Let’s just say I was less than impressed. Since then, fairness demanded that I give them another chance. I’m glad I did. Now, I’m a fan!

You may be asking yourself: What’s the difference between a snow cone and shaved ice? The difference is the ice! Snow cones are made from hard frozen ice cubes that are crushed and course. The syrup runs through the ice and settles in the bottom of the cup pretty quickly. Shaving the ice from a block produces a very fine ice that looks a like snow. This extremely fine texture allows the syrup to be absorbed by the ice so the flavors are consistent throughout the serving. In fact, multiple flavors can be poured on different sections and the flavors don’t "bleed" into each other.

Speaking of flavors, Enticed isn’t kidding about the "gourmet" part of the name. Instead of using commercially available flavoring made with preservatives and high fructose corn syrup, Lauren Noblet and Sydney Brown began by developing their own syrups. Lighter, less sweet, and higher quality syrups really set an enticed gourmet shaved ice apart from the crowd. Enticed offers more than 30 different flavors, and every flavor is offered in a sugar-free version. There are usually 10-12 regular flavors and 2-4 sugar-free flavors offered on any given day.

News flash! Recently, Enticed took another step to set themselves apart by offering “adult” versions of their gourmet shaved ices. For those over 21, you can now get a shot of run, vodka, or tequila to transform your shaved ice from kid-friendly virgin to awesomely adult. The liquor won’t give you a buzz … but it does kinda give you that naughty feeling like you’re doing something you shouldn’t be doing!

Now there’s something for everyone in the family on a hot summer day. Enticed offers three sizes: small (8 oz.), regular (16 oz.), or large (24 oz.). Or, as I call them: BIG!, BIGGER!!, and GINORMOUS!!! Prices range from $3 – $5.

There are lots of choices for your meal, but when it is time for dessert, look around to see if Enticed is waiting to entice you the way they’ve enticed me. Better yet, check out their current location on Twitter or Facebook. Then ask the kids if they want to go out for an Enticed Gourmet Shaved Ice. See who gets to the car first!

Hasn't LaGrange been doing this same thing for a couple of years now? They are also opening up a snow cone trailer at the Dallas West Trailer Park. How is this "groundbreaking", and not just an "also-ran"?

smith000, this story isn't necessarily billed as "groundbreaking," just a feature on a food truck doing cool things.

Houston000 Enticed has been doing the shaved ice for longer than lagrange Enticed is not affiliated with lagrange, nor has anyone who works or owns enticed ever Worked for those lagrange people. Enticed was around years before that other copy cat Ice truck.
