TMZ reported Tuesday that Mariah Carey was fuming after she heard about Nicki Minaj getting one of the judges' seats on American Idol.

"Sources connected with Idol tell TMZ … Mariah was led to believe she would be the only woman on the judge’s panel," the story says. "Choosing Nicki would not only crush that expectation, it would add insult to injury because Nicki (29) is a lot younger than Mariah (42)."

According to the reports, Carey’s reaction when she was told over the phone was short and sweet: She hung up the phone.

I say let’s go back to sweeter times when Minaj wasn’t as famous and appeared in pretty much every song out there. A time when a newcomer’s sudden fame wasn’t scary for an established diva. Here they are collaborating on Carey’s song "Up Out of My Face."
