Sadler and Cruz to debate October 2 in Dallas
The candidates for the U.S. Senate seat will be able to address each other during the debate.
DALLAS Ted Cruz and Paul Sadler, who are running to replace U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, have agreed to a televised debate on October 2 in Dallas.
The debate will be hosted by ABC affiliate WFAA, the station reported Wednesday. The debate will be in a "roundtable format" similar to a July GOP debate hosted by WFAA that featured Cruz and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. The format will allow moderators to ask follow-up questions and allow the candidates to address each other.
Cruz, a former Texas solicitor general, defeated Dewhurst in the July 31 Republican primary runoff. Sadler, a former state representative, beat retired educator Grady Yarbrough in the Democratic runoff.
Additional debates between the candidates may be scheduled before the November 6 election, according to the campaigns.
Libertarian John Jay Myers and Green Party candidate David B. Collins are also running for the seat.
