Video: Tim Halperin’s “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” forces us back to the ‘90s

Remember Pogs?

Twentysomethings will get a kick out of Fort Worth musician Tim Halperin’s just released song, “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up.” The former American Idol contestant has quickly churned out music since his time on the show, putting a younger twist on his Jason Mraz-like style.

The video shows Halperin in a windbreaker, tossing toys like Furby, Beanie Babies, and Pogs (remember those?). He dates himself by shrugging off the fame of Justin Bieber and One Direction, saying he lives more in a “Gangsta’s Paradise” world.

For anyone who grew up in the ‘90s, it’s a fun blast through the past, though the 3-minute song goes on a little long.

Nod to Robert Philpot, who got to this before we did.
