Gametime for LSU/UNT game won’t change despite Hurricane Isaac

Damages only occurred in the press box and club level areas at LSU's stadium.

Louisiana State University officials announced that the game between the No. 3 LSU Tigers and Mean Green will be played at its originally scheduled 6 p.m. start time Saturday.

The announcement came Thursday afternoon from LSU Director of Athletics Joe Alleva after LSU officials assessed damage to Tiger Stadium caused by Hurricane Isaac.

“Our options are limited as far as opportunities to play this game and there was minimal damage to the stadium, so we are proceeding with the season opener on Saturday night,” Alleva said to LSUsports.net.

LSU Associate Vice Chancellor Herb Vincent also told the local radio station, WNXX-FM ESPN, that the stadium and surrounding areas only received “minimal damage.”

It was originally thought that the game would have to be pushed back because of Isaac, but the damages to the stadium occurred in the press box area and some club level seating areas.

The game can be seen on ESPNU and can be heard on KHYI 95.3 FM and KNTU 88.1 FM.
