— The historical site containing the actual rock wall in Rockwall will be sold to the highest bidder at the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Texas Land Auction at the Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas Dec. 11.

Another 180 properties throughout Texas, with locations ranging from Galveston’s oceanfront up to the Oklahoma border, are also in the sale. The majority of the properties are land only, with the potential for commercial, residential, resort and agricultural development. Most of the property is valued in the millions of dollars. Several of the parcels are over 1,000 acres in size.

According to DFW Coldwell Banker Brokerage President Sue Meyer, the sites ranging from one-acre plots to 1,400-acre tracks are ripe for development.

More than 400 buyers are expected to attend the auction, some from as far away as China and Russia. They will be able to compete online and in person from the Convention Center.

“We’re very excited about this auction,” said Meyer, also president of the Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT. “This daylong event will showcase properties with all types of potential uses, from commercial retail to mixed-use developments to hunting and fishing resorts to farms and ranches.”

“Situated in a variety of locations across Texas, these properties are as unique and enchanting as the Lone Star State itself. Without leaving the Irving Convention Center, registered bidders could purchase a prime corner lot in downtown Dallas, a suburban lot with major freeway frontage, a tranquil countryside lot, a spectacular beachfront paradise or even land at a casino site on the Oklahoma border. This vast array of distinctive properties could be transformed into prime residential developments, shopping centers, hotels, convention centers, medical facilities and much more.”

What a debacle! Less than 20 of the 170+ properties sold and the managers (Cynthia Miller and Cindy Frey) were dumbstruck? Had they put more time into training their agents rather than trying to sell over 50 of their own properties maybe more property would've been sold.
