10 Chinese restaurants open on Christmas Day in Dallas for our Jewish friends

Plus a few movie theaters for the dinner-and-a-movie sort.

We tend to think of Christmas as an end-all, be-all, universal holiday in America. We are baffled when someone has to work December 25 because, allegedly, nothing's open. But that's not true: Movie theaters are open, some restaurants are open, and a few coffee shops this year are open.

Families of Jewish descent often eat out at Chinese restaurants or head to the movies, in part because that's all there is on December 25.

In honor of our Jewish friends and their December 25 wishes, here are 10 Chinese restaurants that we’ve made sure will be open and ready to serve on Christmas Day. We’ve also included a few of our favorite movie theaters, where the lines to see The Hobbit will undoubtedly be short. (Not.)

• Cinemark Hollywood USA (Dollar Theater): Open noon to midnight. Located at 4040 South Shiloh Road in Garland.
