Photos: Circle Werk preview at Centraltrak (January 14)
Short films based on the biblical Old Testament.
DALLAS The bronze age was back at Centraltrak Saturday when 20 local artists gathered in the gallery space to preview "Circle Werk" -- short films based on the biblical Old Testament.
Each artist had his or her own display with pictures, notes, set, wardrobe dioramas, and a few proof-of-concept videos. Why have a gallery exhibition while the artists are in-progress versus waiting until the completion of the videos? For event curator Heyd Fontenot, it's all about showing the video production process.
"We wanted to pull back the curtain of video production and have a more engaging and less sterile environment," Fontenot said.
The event did not lack for engagement. In addition to the proof-of-concept videos, there was Mediterranean style guitar playing by Sam England, and live re-enactments of the Old Testament. Centraltrak members drafted attendees, giving them costumes to wear and dialog written on ancient-looking cue card scrolls.
