Denton’s Thin Line Film Fest announces 2012 lineup
Texas' international documentary film festival brings an array of talent and entertainment to Denton.
Thin Line Film Fest, Texas' only international documentary film festival, on Friday announced their fifth annual festival lineup. This year, more than 80 feature and short films from around the globe will be screened at the historic Campus Theatre and other venues in downtown Denton from February 10 to 20, 2012.
This year's scheduled features films cover an array of topics, including the biographies of inspirational and revolutionary figures, a behind-the-scenes look at teenage bullying in BullyCam, an examination of the indie rock scene in China, and the challenges, struggles, and uplifting accomplishments of both humans and animals from all parts of the world.
In addition, Thin Line Film Fest will showcase a number of documentaries, acclaimed by critics and included on the Oscars shortlist. Buck follows the life of acclaimed "horse whisperer" Buck Brannaman, who recovered from years of child abuse to become a well-known expert in the interactions between horses and people. Battle for Brooklyn follows the story of Daniel Goldstein as he struggles to save his home and community from being demolished to make way for the densest real estate development in U.S. history. Jane's Journey provides unprecedented access to Dr. Jane Goodall on her mission to save our endangered planet. Other presentations include Nostalgia for the Light, winner of the International Documentary Association's Best Documentary; The Other F Word, which shows what happens when some of punk rock's most famous leading men embrace fatherhood; Seeing in the Dark, a PBS documentary; and Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour.
"I started Thin Line Film Fest five years ago in Denton because documentary film gives a unique perspective to often overlooked subjects. Documentaries can make the viewer see things or think about things in a completely new way," said Joshua Butler, founder of Thin Line Film Fest. "Denton is the perfect setting for this type of festival because it shares the same independent and creative spirit. I'm excited how this year's festival is coming together and can't wait to kick things off February 10."
Last year, The New York Times dubbed Thin Line Film Fest as "one of the things to do" that week which featured the Texas premiere of Troubadours, fresh from Sundance Film Festival, as well as This Way of Life and Enemies of the People, both off the 2010 Oscar shortlist for Best Documentary. The 2012 festival promises to be bigger, better, and more revered, already having received nearly twice the number of films submitted to be considered than in the previous year.

unlisted, humbleness is a word according to a few dictionaries, but I agree that humility is better.
