Snug on the Square coffee shop opens in downtown McKinney
Light, colorful, and uplifting atmosphere.
I suppose the big news this week should be about the Fourth of July parade held this past Wednesday or the first annual Street Fair held on East Louisiana Street or the annual classic car show at Chestnut Square. All were well attended and tons of fun.
However, there is a pretty avid group of square-lovers who have all but had their noses stuck up against the glass, anxiously anticipating the opening of the latest coffee shop on the square, Snug on the Square. It has finally opened.
Besides their specialty coffees (and regular coffee too), they serve up breakfast sandwiches, made-to-order omelettes, waffles, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, and classic sandwiches and melts. They list two soups – taco soup and bean and bacon soup – and a couple of salads. About the only thing that they don’t list on their menu is their hours.
The atmosphere is light, colorful, and uplifting. They also offer various feel-good merchandise like bags that say “Everything will be okay” and knit sweaters for your coffee mug. Drop by and give them a big hello and welcome to the square.
It was a great weekend for them to open. The parade wound through downtown at 10 a.m. and the crowds lined up to get into the stores immediately after. Although it was pretty warm, many lingered in shady spots, took in the fair, or listened to a street musician set up outside of The Pantry Restaurant.
