Deep Ellum Brewing Co beer will be served in Boston bars
One bar is called Deep Ellum.
Dallas' Deep Ellum Brewing has added a distant new market for its beer: Boston, Massachusetts.
They've signed on to provide beer to two bars in Boston, and one of them is not just any old bar -- it's a bar called Deep Ellum.
The restaurant-bar is located in the Allston/Brighton area near Boston University, and is lauded for its good beer selection and small but diverse menu. It is in fact named after Dallas' Deep Ellum as an homage to the neighborhood's cool vibe; one of its three owners is Aaron Sanders, a native of Dallas. In January, he and his partners opened a baby sibling opened next door to Deep Ellum, Lone Star Taco Bar, the first so-called taco bar in Boston.
The other New England bar that will be stocking Deep Ellum Brewing Co.'s beer is Ale House - Amesbury, a vegetarian/vegan restaurant-bar housed in a renovated mill in Amesbury, Mass., 40 miles northeast of Boston, with a well-respected beer program.
Deep Ellum Brewing already has its beer on tap at bars in Fort Worth, Denton, Austin, Waco, and Houston.

A vegetarian/vegan restaurant-bar 2000 miles away stocking DEBC beer, and not a single vegetarian/vegan establishment in Dallas even has a liquor license. That makes me sad.
However, looking up their menu online, they're not really all vegetarian - so that makes me feel better.
Doesn't make up for the fact that I'd love to sit down in a vegan restaurant in Dallas and order a glass of DEBC. Someday...

James Scott, i didn't actually peruse their menu as thoroughly as i should have.
do you have any theories on why vegan places in DFW don't sell alcohol?

I suspect just a matter of cost/benefit. Spiral Diner in Fort Worth serves beer/wine, but not in Dallas - mainly because the cost to get a liquor license outweighed what they thought their sales would be in return (not to mention the added overhead of stocking/serving/licensing servers/etc).

I had nice vegan/vegetarian food and cocktails, beer, and wine at Sundown....at the Granada.

Yes Nancy! Sundown is absolutely the best place to go if you want veg food and a cocktail (aside from Anvil Pub if you're more into bar food). Just no place to be purely veg and grab an adult beverage.
