Presbyterian Hospital breaks ground on North Rockwall location
The new facility is being built because the South Rockwall location has seen so many patients coming from North Rockwall.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall has broken ground on a new 16,600 square foot facility in North Rockwall which will soon house a family practice physician, emergency room, plus diagnostic and laboratory resources.
Located behind Walgreens at North Goliad and Lakeshore, it will open in stages, beginning this October, when family practice physician Dhara Patel, M.D. – a Texas Health Physician Group doctor – starts seeing patients.
A full-service emergency room will open in the spring of 2013 and be staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Emergency Room Medical Director Dr. Sam Crowley said the new facility will provide the same capabilities and standard of care which the hospital currently provides.
“We have been blessed that the people of this community have trusted us with their health and the health of their loved ones,” he said. “This project is the next important step to realizing our goal of providing the highest quality of care to the growing population of Rockwall. This will be a full functioning ER that will mirror our services at the main campus. The North Rockwall Emergency Department pairs the continued growth of our community with our belief that people need access to excellent and complete healthcare close to home.”
According to hospital president Cindy Paris, patients who need to be hospitalized will be transferred via ambulance directly to the hospital in South Rockwall.
“Should a patient need specialized care, air transport can be arranged directly from the new emergency facility,” she said.
The new facility is being built because the hospital has seen so many patients coming from North Rockwall, said Paris.
“We have seen a large growth in patients coming from the north Rockwall area and the surrounding northern communities. We knew that we needed to evaluate how we were serving those patients and determine if we could do more. After extensive discussions and planning we devised a plan that we are confident will provide the high quality care expected and still keep our patients close to home, where they want to be.”
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall has been recognized with the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It offers 50 inpatient beds for acute medical and surgical needs, advanced medical technology and comprehensive services focused on quality patient care and safety close to home.
Recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s “Best Places to Work in Healthcare,” and Becker’s Hospital Review’s “Great Places to Work in Healthcare,” it is a Silver Award recipient of the TMF Health Quality Institute and home to several of DFW’s “Great 100 Nurses.”
