Frisco to begin construction on Stonebrook Parkway

The project is scheduled to last 28 months.

The city of Frisco has announced its construction schedule for the expansion of Stonebrook Parkway, which will feature six lanes when construction is complete. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and last until November 2014. Stonebrook Parkway will close current westbound lanes during construction; the current eastbound lanes will remain, with one lane being converted for westbound traffic.

Expansion of the parkway will be separated into four phases. The first phase will last from July to September. During that time, construction will be done to create dual westbound left-turn lanes on Rolater Road, just east of Preston Road.

The second phase, scheduled to take place from September 2012 to June 2013, will reconstruct westbound Stonebrook Parkway, located west of Preston Road to Parkwood Boulevard, to include three lanes. Additionally, a new water line will be created beneath the new westbound lanes.

The third phase, which will take place between June 2013 and April 2014, will reconstruct Stonebrook Parkway west of Parkwood Boulevard to Dallas Parkway to create three travel lanes in both directions. During this phase all lanes of Stonebrook Parkway between Parkwood Boulevard and Dallas Parkway will close, although the Frisco High School entrance will still have access to Parkwood Boulevard. As with phase two, a water line will be constructed beneath the westbound lanes during this time.

The final phase, scheduled to take place from April 2014 to November 2014, will widen Stonebrook Parkway west of Dallas Parkway to include two extended eastbound left-turn lanes and an eastbound right-turn lane. Dallas Parkway will also be widened to include a southbound right-turn lane.

A meeting regarding the project will be held at 6:30 p.m., July 30 at the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, located at 6843 Main St. Project staff will be on hand to answer questions about the expansion.

The $10.2 million project is being funded by voter-approved bonds. Additional information on the project can be found on the city of Frisco website.
