Viewers mostly absent in Dallas-Fort Worth ratings
When Wheel of Fortune is tops, you know things are bad.
For two days running, nary a single prime-time program cracked the 200,000 viewers mark in D-FW.
Not even the usually reliable Texas Rangers, whose Wednesday night 21-8 drubbing by Seattle mustered just 135,482 viewers on Fox Sports Southwest.
That left CBS11's pre-prime-time Wednesday edition of Wheel of Fortune as the grand champ of the past two days. It had 250,642 viewers before the following premiere of CBS' Dogs In The City dipped to 155,804 viewers but still won its 7 to 8 p.m. slot against ABC's sitcom repeats, NBC's Stanley Cup Finals match, and Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.
On Thursday, The CW's premiere of the ballet reality series Breaking Pointe barely broke through with 33,871 viewers in the 7 p.m. hour. The night's most-watched attraction, Oklahoma City's dismantling of San Antonio in Game 3 of their Western Conference Finals series, lured 196,449 viewers to TNT.
Here are the local news derby results:
Wednesday -- WFAA8 and CBS11 tied for the lead in total viewers at 10 p.m., but WFAA8 edged Fox4 for the top spot with 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.
NBC5 swept the 6 a.m. competitions and WFAA8 did likewise at 5 p.m. CBS11 nipped WFAA8 for first place in total viewers at 6 p.m. while WFAA8 was a clear winner in the 25-to-54 demographic.
Thursday -- WFAA8 ran first in total viewers at 10 p.m., with Fox4 setting the pace among 25-to-54-year-olds.
NBC5 stayed strong at 6 a.m. with twin wins while WFAA8 ran the table at both 5 and 6 p.m.
