This sandwich isn’t for all you fancy foodie foodies.

Nammi banh mi

For those of you who have been living under a rock, the Dallas food truck scene has been the jump off for the past year or so. My first taste of this scene was with Nammi Truck, and still today, this is one of my favorite trucks out there. They specialize in Vietnamese fusion street food and making mouths happy "for very long time." Trust me, these guys know how to do both extremely well.

I went to check out the happens at Lake Cliff Park for the annual Earth Day fiesta. The place was PACKED. Naturally, the busiest spot in the park was where food truck corner. Lots of heads showed up, but once I saw that blue and yellow truck, I knew where my money and appetite were going. The Nammi Dudes are always hecka friendly, and I don’t know how they do it, but they always remember names.

Nammi does all sorts of Vietnamese street food, but if you are a Nammi virgin and don’t get the Banh Mi, you're just plain dumb. OK now, let me tell you how to order the perfect Banh Mi. What you want to get is a Grilled Pork Banh Mi, extra jalapenos, and (this is the most important part) ask them to add an egg. Oh yeah, you’re also going to need something to wash all that yummy Banh down with, so go 'head and order a fresh made Basil Mint Lemonade, too. That right there is the Glut Special.

The Basil Mint Lemonade is the SHIIIIZLE here. They make it fresh every day, and it goes perfect with the Banh. It’s so good that I think even if Nammi served beer, I would still rather get the lemonade. Crazy, I know.

This sandwich isn’t for all you fancy foodie foodies. This thing is meant to be eaten like a beast. It’s huge and extremely sloppy. Best bring a bib to this party, cuz you are going to get messy. Oh and here’s a Pro Tip: Make sure you have plenty of Sriracha laying around. This thing almost ate up my whole bottle.

If you’ve never had a Banh Mi, track down the Nammi and tell them Glut Life sent you. Follow them on Twitter here.

John Turner-McClelland, verified:

The banh mi is plenty hot with the jalapeno. I don't think you need Sriracha unless you really just like pain.

Nammi is definitely the shiz.

You're not from around these parts, are you?

John Turner-McClelland, verified:

I didn't know Thai hot sauce was from around these parts.
