Becks Prime, burger chain from Houston, coming to Dallas
First branch opens in the old Jack in the Box location at Preston & Forest.
DALLAS Dallas is due to get another burger. Becks Prime Restaurants, a gourmet hamburger restaurant chain with 12 locations in Houston, will open a branch at Preston & Forest in the old Jack in the Box space.
Construction is already underway, with an opening date set for sometime this summer, said spokeswoman Alice Sarmiento.
"We're very excited to be entering the Dallas market," she said. "We're Houston-born and -bred, and decided that Dallas was the place to share the love first outside of Houston."
The first Becks Prime opened on Houston's Kirby Drive in 1985 with a double drive-through and an open-air patio. The management team includes lawyer Win Campbell and Mike Knapp, whose restaurant experience began in 1972 with Steak & Ale.
The chain, which calls what it does "the world's freshest fast food," lies somewhere between a Chili's and a Jake's. The menu extends from $7 burgers to chicken sandwiches to salads, all the way up to $30 ribeye steaks. Burgers are Angus chuck roast, and beer is served in frosty mugs. They have regular and sweet-potato fries, but also a side of grilled veggies, queso, and "Parmesan crisps," Toast Crisps Baked with Parmesan, Olive Oil, and Garlic, for $3.25.
Sarmiento said that development is slow, with expansion meted out one step at a time.
"There are hopes and plans to open more than one branch in Dallas, but no official deal has been sealed," she said.
