Hook’s Ice House to open near Lake Grapevine on St. Patrick’s Day
Not quite a Hooter's, it'll take over old Little Pete's space.
FLOWER MOUND We were all a little sad when Little Pete’s closed. What a great place to have a meal overlooking Lake Grapevine. It was casual and fun and had basic but tasty food. Well, if you loved their location on the marina, you are in luck: Hook's Ice House is opening in that space. They'll be hosting festivities on March 17-18 from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m., with live music and obviously some St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
"We're hoping to open this Saturday," said Jason Gray, one of the owners. "A few groups were interested in taking over the space. When we presented our idea of revamping Little Pete's, the marina chose us. We did a complete remodel. It was so outdated, I don't think they’d cleaned the kitchen in seven years, but it looks amazing now."
It's a combination restaurant-bar whose menu consists mostly of bar food with a little bit of Tex-Mex. The Facebook page shows girls in bikinis, but Gray says Hook's doesn't quite fall into the "breastaurant" category.
"It's not a Hooter's -- they'll be a little more covered up at Hook's," he says. "They have tank tops, but they can wear jean shorts, they can pick them out themselves. I grew up on Lake Texoma, and I know the lake atmosphere. At Lake Grapevine, it's going to be more of family atmosphere -- it's not a party lake like Lake Lewisville."
