One Direction: US Tour Announcement

The prospect of British/Irish band One Direction coming to DFW was enough to incite long lines and even a teen injury in mid-March in Frisco. Good news for their thousands of super fans: The band announced they'll be touring North America in May, June, and early July.
The band stops at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas on Saturday, June 23. We're betting the website Bring 1D to Dallas is stoked.
[UPDATE: The June 2012 show is sold out.
Fans have the chance to win "golden tickets" -- either free lawn seats or free reserved seats -- by buying merchandise before the concert. The merch tables will be open from 3-7 p.m. June 22 at the West Gate entrance; and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 23 at both the West and East gates.]

One Direction, also called 1D by those in-the-know, is a boy band that was on the UK version of The X Factor. Their song "What Makes You Beautiful" has been a hit across the pond and in the U.S., and their new album Up All Night hit No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. The band reports they're the first group from the UK whose first album has debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200.
The band is made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, aged 18 to 20.
UPDATE x2: The band will also release a book about a month before the Dallas gig, the AP reports. It'll be called Dare to Dream: Life as One Direction and is out May 22. Naturally, a second book is already in the works for 2013.
