Kids and family events in Dallas-Fort Worth, March 22-28
Performance-heavy events top the list, including Anne of Green Gables, Mary Poppins, and Disney on Ice.
Don't let the early week deluge fool you -- come this weekend, the weather will be bright and sunny, if a little humid for this early in the year. Unfortunately, most of the best options for events this week will keep you indoors. But just because you won't have to slather on the sunscreen doesn't mean the events aren't worth your time.
The classic Anne of Green Gables comes to life courtesy of Dallas Children's Theater, starting at Rosewood Center on Friday (playing through April 1). The tale of orphan Anne Shirley is just as entertaining as it was 100 years ago, and DCT is sure to do it justice. You can also see the final dress rehearsal on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. with a pay-what-you-can admission price.
Another classic comes to the local stage when Mary Poppins lands at Bass Performance Hall next Tuesday (playing through April 8). All your favorite songs from the Disney film will be showcased, and the idea of seeing Mary Poppins taking flight in front of your eyes should already have you giddy.
Finally, more Disney will be on display at American Airlines Center starting next Wednesday when Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream comes to town (running through April 1). The show features memorable moments from Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and Cinderella. The show will also be bilingual, as the evening performance on Saturday, March 31 will be entirely in Spanish.
