Kids and family events in Dallas-Fort Worth, March 29-April 4
Three new theater productions, art in Frisco, and a Latino-themed Mavs celebration are your best bets.
As March draws to a close, it's time to prepare for the home stretch of the school year. But, as always, all (home)work and no play can make for some cranky children, so make sure to treat yours to some fun every now and again.
This week sees the openings of three family-friendly theater productions. Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents Dora's Pirate Adventure, in which Dora uses her map-reading and counting skills to find Treasure Island, Friday through April 28. Disney's Alice in Wonderland will play at Casa Manana Theatre in Fort Worth Friday through April 15, taking audiences down the rabbit hole into a shortened version of classic movie. And Plano Children's Theatre puts their twist on a twisty tale, The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. The mystery will be on display for three performances on Friday and Saturday.
Frisco Square will host Arts in the Square on Friday and Saturday. The event is as much an opportunity to enjoy the features and businesses in and around Frisco Square as it is to appreciate the works of artists from around the country. Enjoy the weather and some creativity at the same time.
Finally, the Dallas Mavericks are clinging to the lower rungs of playoff hopes, so they could use all our support. If you can't make it to a game, why not check out Festival de los Mavs, a Latino-themed celebration on Saturday at American Airlines Center? Included among the many activities will be player autograph sessions and the opportunity to take a picture with the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
