Executed Death Row inmate shouted “Go Cowboys” in last moments
This isn't good for Texas' image.
The fourth man to be executed in Texas in 2012 shouted "Go Cowboys!" before he was executed on Wednesday. Dallas man Jesse Joe Hernandez had been on Death Row after being convicted of beating a 10-month-old boy with a flashlight in 2001, according to a Reuters story. The boy later died.
Relatives of the child who died did not attend the execution. Hernandez is quoted as saying during the execution, "God bless everybody. Continue to walk with God." Then he shouted for his favorite team: "Go Cowboys!" He was said to be cheerful.
A convicted child sex offender, Hernandez was also found guilty of beating the child's 4-year-old sister, but she survived. Hernandez was living with the children's mother in 2001 and was left to babysit the kids while their mother was working.
In the spirit of strange last words, the International Business Times lists the 10 "weirdest" last words from condemned prisoners.
