Academy Award winner Peter Lord honored at USA Film Festival event
Plus, there'll be a preview of his latest movie.
DALLAS The 2012 USA Film Festival will honor film producer Peter Lord in its Great Director Tribute. Lord has won Academy Awards, most notably for Best Animated Feature for Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
The USA Film Festival will host a preview screening of Lord's new film The Pirates! Band of Misfits on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at AMC NorthPark. The film stars Hugh Grant in his first animated role. It's rated PG and opens to the public April 27.
Of note, Peter Simek at D Magazine says that "Lord was already scheduled to appear in Dallas on April 12 to promote his new movie," and the film festival simply put their name on it. The April 12 date is also opening day for rival film festival the Dallas International Film Festival.

usafilmfestival, anonymous:
A little fact correction. Some of Pegasus News’ writers have certainly been around long enough to know that the USA Film Festival has had a program relationship with Aardman for over 20 years, and has presented almost all of their films in Dallas. In fact, the Festival’s Tribute invitation was initially issued in 2010. These are just some of the reasons that Mr. Lord and the film’s distributor (with whom the Festival has worked for 40 years) accepted the USA Film Festival’s tribute invitation and why USAFF members will receive this wonderful program opportunity. It can’t be helped if the Festival’s long-standing relationships perplex D magazine’s writer.

Hi usafilmfestival, thanks for writing to us. D Magazine's opinion on the festival doesn't necessarily mean it's the right one, but it is worth presenting. Thanks for giving a quick history on the festival's relationship with Aardman. It's useful information for our readers.
