Le Freak, Bridgit Mendler, and The Commodores are among the groups scheduled to appear.
Do you plan on attending this year's State Fair of Texas on opening day, Friday, September 28? If so, bring your boogie shoes and enjoy Le Freak in a free concert on the Silverado Main Stage. Although the entire lineup hasn't been finalized, State Fair officials are providing a sneak peek at this year's entertainment calendar.
The Rebirth Brass Band is, simply put, a New Orleans institution appearing Saturday, October 6. Rebirth will be followed with an evening concert by Ruthie Foster. She's known for her eclectic musical blend of soul, blues, rock, folk, and gospel.
Enjoy an afternoon concert by King of the Accordion Ramon Ayala as he takes center stage on Sunday, October 7. The following day is Columbus Day, and actress, singer, musician, and songwriter Bridgit Mendler will make her debut appearance at the State Fair of Texas.
Grab your hat on Saturday, October 13 for an evening of boot-scootin' music with native Texan Kevin Fowler. Fowler's free concert will top off a day filled with fun, food, and college football. But the music doesn't stop on Saturday night for those returning to enjoy legendary rock group Kansas the following afternoon.
The final weekend (October 20-21) offers a Saturday night show by The Commodores while Sunday belongs to Tejano band Texas Tornados.
Concerts on the Silverado Main Stage are free for fairgoers. The outdoor venue is a huge, festival-type stage surrounded by a vast blacktop. Most viewers stand, although seating is available on some nearby grassy areas, low walls, and steps. An ADA-compliant area is provided for guests needing special assistance. The concert series has been produced by Glenn Smith Presents, Inc. for 24 consecutive years.
The Fair kicks off on Friday, September 28 and runs through October 21.
