Could Dallas get Psy-ched about a Gangnam Style video?
Houston did.
Houston ISD students & staff make “Gangnam Style” parody to encourage voting
The Guardian
Psy is a chart-topping Korean rap sensation who, thanks to his flamboyant style and unusual dance moves, has inspired numerous parodies.
HOUSTON First there was the respective Obama and Romney versions. Now this. The Houston Chronicle reports that Houston ISD has found a creative way to skirt around laws prohibiting it from using tax dollars to promote the passage of a $1.9 billion bond referendum, which is on the November 6 ballot. Students, board members, and even Furr High's adorable 78-year-old principal, parodied a rap video by chart-topping South Korean sensation Psy, whose "Gangnam Style" has more than 600 million YouTube hits as of October 30. "Early Voting Style" reminds viewers that "voting early makes me dance, makes me dance like a cowboy."
Even if you already hate "Gangnam Style," it's hard not to admire Houston ISD's finger-on-the-pulse ingenuity. Even DISD board member Carla Ranger gave it a shout-out on her blog.
But we have to wonder: Does Dallas take itself too seriously to try similar light-hearted shenanigans? Would Dallas even know what's hip ... or are we more William Hung than Gangnam Style?

Thanks for the shout out to HISD. Check out our Facebook page Houston ISD to see the flash mobs, zombies and other activities we've done to get students excited about voting and to raise awareness in the community about the bond.
