Strange all-glass restroom pops up in even stranger spot: East Texas
It's an art experience that would feel a lot more appropriate in New York City.
The East Texas town of Sulphur Springs has debuted an interesting attraction: an all-glass public restroom.
No, really. They’re essentially one-way mirrors, so you can see everything going on outside, but no one can see you … you know, doing your business.
According to Tyler TV news station KLTV, the restrooms were modeled after a 2004 exhibit by Italian artist Monica Bonivicini, entitled "Don’t Miss A Sec."
They’ll be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Lest anyone be concerned about potentially skeevy activity, Sulphur Springs City Manager Marc Maxwell tells KLTV: “We’ve got nine cameras here on this square watching what goes on. They’re all monitored at the police department and they’re all recording in HD color. So trust me, this is the last place a creep wants to hang out.”
