Country star and Tioga resident Randy Travis had some very public troubles this year, but his attorney tells gossip site TMZ.com that Travis has “eliminated alcohol from his daily life.”

In a story posted today, TMZ reports that Dallas lawyer Larry Friedman says Travis is now focusing on his health, and that he even was in the recording studio last week.

“[Randy] works out 3 hours every day and is in the best shape of his life,” Friedman told TMZ.

In February, Travis was arrested for public intoxication while sitting in his car in a Sanger church parking lot. (He eventually paid a fine after pleading no-contest to a reduced charge of illegal parking.)

On August 7, authorities say, Travis showed up naked at a Pilot Point convenience store and tried to buy cigarettes. He later wrecked his 1998 Pontiac TransAm in a construction zone, where state troopers in Grayson County found him lying in the middle of the road.

On August 23, Travis got involved in an altercation in the parking lot of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. The next day, police issued him a citation accusing him of assaulting the estranged husband of the woman he’s dating.
