“Hipster Disney Princess” video goes viral, stars Dallas singer
Who knew Snow White had such a great vinyl collection?
Dallas singer/songwriter Tiger Darrow has made herself famous as a “hipster Disney princess.” The sugary sweet singer who now goes to New York University is one of four Disney princesses featured on a YouTube video that has received nearly 1.5 million pageviews since it was posted October 1.
The video is a musical that explains the plight of hipster princesses Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, and Ariel. Watch:

Darrow, who went to Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, was part of the video’s conception with Antonius and Vijay Nazareth, the AVbyte Brothers who produce weekly musicals on YouTube. (“YouTubesicals.”)
“Hipster Disney Princess” was filmed in Times Square – a tricky feat. Each hipster princess wore easy-to-remove clothing and carried trash bags filled with princess gowns to the middle of Times Square. They changed in public, filmed, and got out of there.
Why not just change in a bathroom nearby? “Belle had a hoop skirt, and that wasn’t going to fit in a bathroom stall,” said Darrow. Amen, sister.
The best part about the experience, for Darrow, is that some web surfers have made .gifs from the video. “I’ve always wanted to be a .gif!” she said.
