— It’s midterm season, and the coffee maker is working hard for many late-night studiers.

Down a cup of coffee, rinse out the mug and chase that caffeine with this single-serving cake prepared in less than five minutes. This specific recipe was found on a blog called “The Hidden Pantry,” but there are dozens floating around on Pinterest and Google. All of the ingredients for this recipe can be found for about $5 at any local grocery store.

Ingredients

  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1 box any flavor cake mix
  • Water
  • Materials
  • Favorite coffee mug
  • Measuring spoons
  • Microwave

Directions

Pour both cake mixes into a freezer-size Ziploc bag, seal it, and shake until the two mixes are combined evenly.

If using a dark cake mix with the angel food cake mix, the final mix will look grayish. Gently kneading the bag helps as well.

Then, measure out six tablespoons of the mix and dump it into the mug.

Measure out four tablespoons of water and pour it into the mug.

Stir the water and cake mix until the mix is no longer powdery.

Place the mug in the microwave and heat for one minute.

Top with frosting, chocolate syrup, or ice cream and enjoy.

Keep the bag of cake mix for future late night carb cravings.

Helpful tip: Let the cake sit for 30 seconds to a minute after taking it out of the microwave. Letting the cake cool allows it to be less airy.
