Divers are searching for Coppell High School student, Jacob Logan, who went missing at Possum Kingdom Lake on Sunday.

— The search for a missing 17-year-old Coppell High School student was suspended at sundown Sunday at Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County.

Jacob Logan, a CHS senior and defensive back and wide receiver for the Coppell Cowboys, reportedly dived off a cliff into the lake shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. He and several others had been attending a birthday party at the lake.

Judi Pierce, Brazos River Authority public information officer, quoted witnesses as saying the student surfaced after the dive and then went under again, and did not resurface.

She said divers will resume searching at sunrise Monday.

Pierce said there are numerous cliffs around Possum Kingdom Lake.

"Diving from the cliffs is very popular, but is discouraged," she said. She said signs are up stating, "No diving from cliffs more than 20 feet high." However, she said some students were diving from a cliff higher than that Sunday afternoon when the teenager disappeared in the water.

Students and others met at the Coppell High School football field Sunday night for a prayer vigil for the missing student.

The Coppell Cowboys, one of the top ranked football teams in the state, have a 6-0 season record.
