TCU ranking jumps five spots forward in US News and World Report

At no. 92, TCU continues its drive into the report's top 100 national universities.

TCU earned a no. 92 ranking in US News and World Report's rankings of National Universities.

This is five spots higher than TCU’s previous ranking. The university broke into the top 100 schools in 2010, when it was ranked 99th in the nation and cited as one of 20 "Up-and-Coming" Schools. In 2011, the university moved up an additional two places to 97th.

The rankings are compiled using first year students retention rates, graduation rates and the strength of faculty.

Schools in the National Universities category offer a full range of undergraduate programs in addition to master’s and PhD programs.

This year, the university tied for 92nd with St. Louis University, Stony Brook University (SUNY), the University of Vermont and the University of San Diego.

Other Texas schools on the list included Rice (17), University of Texas (46), SMU (58), Texas A&M (65) and Baylor (77).

Rice was the only Texas school with an acceptance rate more selective than TCU's, which is just under 38 percent.

Harvard, Princeton and Yale claimed the top three spots.

TCU 360 will have more information on the rankings later this week.
