Concert review: Blink-182 at WinStar was rowdy and perverse, just like we like ‘em

A Blink show wouldn't be complete without potty jokes and tales of sexual misadventures.

In the first of two nights at WinStar World Casino, pop/punk trio Blink-182 kicked off its show with a bombastic, perverted set. Usually, the band plays in Dallas, but this time around, the tour won’t step foot in Texas.

Although the band didn’t have an opener, two female fans provided thorough entertainment before the concert. Security was called to settle them down, where the two were taken to the ground and eventually escorted out in handcuffs by security and a few police officers. It seemed an appropriate start to a rowdy night.

The Southern California rockers played through most of their hits like “First Date,” “Adam’s Song,” “All The Small Things,” and “The Rock Show.” The band even took time to perform a few tracks from their earlier albums like Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch, and fans sang loudly, nearly drowning out Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus’ teenage vocals.

Editor's note: We incorrectly stated in the paragraph above that Blink-182 played "Adam's Song." That was our mistake and we regret the error.

Travis Barker demonstrated why he is one of the best drummers in the business, with a killer drum solo that shook the walls of the venue. Integrating a back track of hip-hop and electronic dance music, Barker’s impressive beats left fans screaming for more. Throughout the show, however, Barker showed slight signs of fatigue as he shook his hands after a particularly difficult set, as if he were in pain.

The band has been at it early 20 years, but their behavior and stage antics haven’t matured since high school age. Fans relished in the potty jokes and riffs about genitalia. DeLonge, notorious for his dirty stories, told tales of awkward sexual misadventures as Hoppus giggled and egged him on for more.

They may be old(er), but they haven’t grown up.

Sad you missed Blink-182 on Thursday night? The band performs Friday at WinStar, and tickets are still on sale.

They did NOT play Adam's Song. Come on, get your facts straight if you're going to do a review
