Carrollton teens are driving a Lamborghini to high school

Instant high school royalty?

— If you were lucky enough to have your own car in high school, it was probably an unsightly piece of crap. I had an ’87 Chevy Cavalier with the cheapest paint job you could get at Maaco. And I loved it.

So that’s most of us, right? Then there are the kids at Hebron High School in Carrollton who are apparently rolling to school in a Lamborghini. A very, very rare Lamborghini. The Dallas Observer sniffed this out via Jalopnik, a Gawker site devoted to cars and car culture. According to Jalopnik, it’s a Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, of which there are only 150 in the entire world.

Jalopnik called Top Speed Auto in Addison (because their name was on the Lambo’s license plate holder), and this is what they learned: “The man who owns the car has a girlfriend with an 18-year old son … and a 15-year old daughter. The Gallardo was in storage at Top Speed almost all summer until earlier this week when it went back to the owner. … Reportedly, the owner also has a Ferrari 458, which the 18-year old and 15-year old have driven ‘frequently.’”

I was just musing this morning that one thing about Dallas living that I just can’t get accustomed to is how many crazy-expensive cars you see on the road. I see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Maseratis pretty regularly in Uptown. This morning, in fact, I let a man driving a freaking Tesla Roadster Sport merge in front of me. (Base MSRP: $110,950) But a couple of high school kids driving a Lamborghini to school? In the words of Hank Hill, that tears it.

Just part of the Entitled Generation that today's parents encourage. Yesterday I saw a 4-year-old girl drop her iPhone and she said "Oh! I dropped it again! Am I gonna have to get a new one ALREADY?!"
