— Paula Deen was in Dallas over the weekend, y'all, and she's just as animated in person as she is in TV.

She visited the Dallas Convention Center in the first-ever local Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show, which featured celebrity chefs, workshops, and -- of course! -- samples.

Deen received a pair of cowboy boots from Dallas Morning News publisher and CEO Jim Moroney. She also brought her puppy Lulu, who "drew oohs and ahhs" as she made her entrance onstage, according to Joy Tipping of the DMN.

Deen, now 32 pounds slimmer, cooked "granny’s chicken and dumplings" at the event. She told the crowd she kept pulling at her pants because she's lost so much weight.

Here are a few fun moments from Deen's time in Big D:

she never washed her hands...even after playing with the dog, putting on the boots and making the dough for the dumplings....then fed it to a couple members of the audience..

Dallas giving her boots. Dallas is as far from being a 'boot' town as you can get. They love to poo poo Fort Worth, but as soon as any visiting dignitary arrives, what's the first thing they do? Give them boots like Dallas is some big western city. Give me a break.
