UPDATED: Collin College in Frisco reopens after three bomb threats
Classes resume Friday.
Collin College's Preston Ridge Campus is once again open after three separate bomb threats canceled classes Thursday afternoon.
The college tweeted at 7:30 p.m. that police had given the "all clear." Campuses will resume as scheduled Friday.
Collin College is evacuating its Frisco campus after receiving bomb threats for three buildings this afternoon.
A caller initially made two bomb threats to two separate buildings at the college's Preston Ridge Campus - Founder's Hall and the library - before calling back 20 minutes later to threaten Building D, which contains classrooms.
The college posted an alert for students to evacuate Founder's Hall and the library at 5:02 p.m. It posted another alert at 5:32 p.m. calling for the entire campus to be evacuated.
The threat was first reported by The Dallas Morning News.
All evening classes at the campus have been canceled. The system's campuses in McKinney and Plano remain open.
The process is they've evacuated the campus and the police department will do a sweep, which should take several hours, said Lisa Vasquez, Collin College spokeswoman. They'll determine if there is any need to bring in a bomb crew.
Earlier this year, the Collin College campus in Plano received two bomb threats within a nine-day span, but only the second threat was deemed credible. A bomb squad was brought in to sweep the campus, but nothing was found.
The college will keep students updates through its CougarAlert system, which contacts them via email texts and voice messages and with alerts on its website and through social media.
