Sean Lowe finally danced shirtless on Dancing With the Stars
It might've saved them this week.
Sean Lowe and Peta - Samba - Dancing with the Stars Season 16 - Week 6
It was Stevie Wonder Night on Dancing With the Stars, but it also could have been called The Night Sean Lowe Finally Danced Shirtless. (After all, this was his preferred level of attire for approximately 85 percent of The Bachelor‘s season.) After an all-time high score of 24 for the couple last week, partner Peta Murgatroyd was confident that from here on out, “we’re just going to keep climbing that ladder.”
Oops. That ladder was missing a step. Or three.
Following an awkward, stiff samba, judge Carrie Ann Inaba pinpointed the problem: “You have to learn to listen to the music!” Len Goodman said the performance “was riddled with mistakes, no hip action … It’s not terrible.” (Oh, so it was “riddled with mistakes” in a good way?)
Bruno Tonioli opted to “look on the bright side: “You can always get a job as a stripper.” (A stripper with no musicality, though. Whee!) Lowe and Murgatroyd appeared a bit peeved as the score were announced: 21 out of 30. So what was to blame for the backtrack, besides Lowe’s inability to feel music?
“Other things going on in my life.”
That was the only explanation viewers received as to why he skipped a whole day of rehearsals this week. Oh, that and “another commitment” that he had to attend to. How frustratingly vague.
Later in the show, the duo competed in a group dance in the hopes of winning extra points from the judges. Luckily for Lowe, he was on the winning team, which performed a ’70s-themed samba. Each couple on the winning team got 25 points added to their score, while the “less-winning” team received 22 extra points.
In other words, Lowe and his partner lucked out this week. Here’s to “learning to listen to the music” next go-round.
