Mesquite welcomes Pat Green and Kevin Fowler for 7th Annual Real Texas Festival
Catch them April 26 and 27 at the Mesquite Arena.
MESQUITE The city of Mesquite is getting ready to host several thousand people this weekend during its annual Real.Texas.Festival. The festival will take place April 26-27 at the city's rodeo center, 1818 Rodeo Drive.
Wayne Larson, city communications director, said presale ticket sales so far are comparable to last year's numbers. He added the weather forecast so far looks positive. In past years the weather has forced changes to the city's plans for parking. The festival takes place rain or shine.
This year the festival will feature headline performer Pat Green on April 26 and Kevin Fowler on April 27. Both performers have previously played the festival with Green serving as a headliner last year.
"Music is always a big draw at this event, so Green and Fowler are drawing much [of the] interest, as is the indoor rodeo and car show," Larson said.
He said the city hopes that this year's attendance will pass the record numbers set last year.
"We have put together another super line-up of music and other attractions, and the weather forecast looks good. This event is very family-affordable with discounted tickets still available with a food donation, and kids under 12 are free, as is general parking and shuttle service," Larson said.
Discount tickets are available for $5 off with a nonperishable food donation made to the mayor's canned food drive. All tickets include admission to all festival events including the car show, rodeo and concert stages.
"This is a very affordable ticket. For $15, with food donation, adults get into the event and kids 12 and under are free. Everyone can enjoy awesome music, plenty of vendors, a car show, indoor rodeo and more. Parking is free as is shuttle service. There are all-day ride wrist bands available for just $20," Larson said.
Larson said the festival has had one major change since the lineup of events was first announced. The 3-on-3 basketball tournament and clinic was cancelled.
"The basketball tournament was cancelled due to a lack of teams to field a full tournament, and the basketball clinic by Nancy Lieberman has been postponed, as there is a conflict in her schedule through her association with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are in the NBA playoffs," Larson said.
