SNL threesome Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, and Dennis Miller to joke around in Allen
Allen's the new hip spot in town.
If your only perception of Allen is that it's a good pit-stop for discounted Banana Republic en route to Oklahoman casinos, then newsflash: Allen Event Center is hosting three of the funniest men to ever utter those indelible words, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!"
On October 19, 2013, Saturday Night Live alumni Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey, and Kevin Nealon will descend upon Allen at the swanky, city-owned event center. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3 and may be purchased on ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, or in person at the Allen Event Center.Prices range from $39.50 to $149.50.
Time travel with us a moment back to 1985 when SNL, as it is wont to do, wavered on the cusp of cancellation. The break between seasons 11 and 12 sent most cast members to the bread lines, but also added writing to then-featured cast member Al Franken's plate. A host of unknowns -- Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, Phil Hartman, and Jan Hooks -- joined returning repertory cast member Dennis Miller, whose Weekend Update was one of the floundering show's only successes.
With this rag-tag cast of nobodies came "Hans and Franz;" Aurora, Illinois public access superstar Garth Algar; the mahogany cascades of Dennis Miller's mullet; and the ever-timely condescension of "Isn't That Special."
The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on October 19, with inexpensive food available throughout the venue and -- get this -- free parking.
