Heard of cat bearding? Try “book bearding”
You could earn a gift card to Half Price Books.
DALLAS Artisan facial hair, like the magnificent mustaches and beards of Beardfest, has been #trending for a while now. More recently, the cultural obsession with beards crossed paths with the Internet's obsession with cats, yielding cat bearding. Surely you've heard of it.
But what happens when you cross pollinate the love of face fur with a hobby, like say, reading?
Dallas-based Half Price Books is challenging literary liaisons to create their best "book beard" for a chance to win a $10 gift card. The premise is simple: Find a book (y'all still have those, right?) that coincides with a weekly theme set by Half Price Books, open it up, and place below the nose with the cover art facing the camera. Then upload your picture to Instagram and Twitter with hashtags #bookbeard and #giveaway. Don't forget to tag @halfpricebooks, too.
Book beard themes include:
- August 2-9: Book of your choice
- August 9-16: Required reading you didn't hate
- August 16-23: Favorite book of all time
- August 23-30: What you're reading now
Tagging your photos to both Instagram and Twitter will count for two entries into the gift card drawing. Your photos will be uploaded to the company's Book Beard Tumblr, where you can check out the bookish competition.
If this is the only reason you crack a book this summer, I'd say it's well worth it.Follow @tineywristwatch
