McKinney police arrest alleged child predator
The man is accused of inappropriately touching a 10-year-old in a Target store.
MCKINNEY Police have arrested the man accused of committing a sexual act in a local shopping center.
"The suspect has been identified and was arrested a couple of weeks ago in south Texas on unrelated charges," said Chad Barker, spokesperson for the McKinney Police Department. "We won't be releasing his identify until formal charges are brought against him. The charges are still pending."
Midmorning on June 28, a mother and her 10-year-old daughter were shopping at Target, at 2025 North Central Expressway in McKinney. The daughter was several aisles over from her mother when a white, middle-aged man allegedly "patted her on the buttocks and told her she was sexy," according to a police statement.
The child ran to her mother who told store employees what happened. Employees tried to locate the man, but were unable to find him. The man is described as "a 6-foot tall, medium-build, pale-skin male in his sixties with a long, gray ponytail," according to police.
Surveillance video of the incident showed the girl in the electronics section, while the suspect was watching her from the next aisle and allegedly masturbating, police said.
